Liverpool injury update ahead of Arsenal clash in the Premier League
Jurgen Klopp could be without up to eight Liverpool players when Arsenal visit Anfield in the Premier League on Saturday.
Liverpool welcome the high-flying Gunners to Merseyside as first takes on second in the top-of-the-table Christmas clash.
The Reds were held to a scoreless draw at home to Manchester United on Sunday but went on to comfortably beat West Ham in midweek, with a convincing 5-1 win at home in the Carabao Cup to book their place in the semi-finals of the comPetition.
Ahead of the Arsenal match this weekend, we take a look at the Liverpool players who may miss out.
Liverpool injury update
Ryan Gravenberch limped off in the Game against Manchester United and missed the match against West Ham, but the midfielder has since had a scan, which later revealed that was suffering from DOMS (Delayed onset muscle soreness) and therefore could feature against Mikel Arteta’s side.
Midfielder Alexis Mac Allister could be out until January and will therefore not be available for Jurgen Klopp.
Defender Joel Matip will continue to recover from surgery after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury. Matip, 32, is likely to miss the rest of the 2023-24 season.
Players returning from injury
Andy Robertson will be sidelined until January after suffering a shoulder injury on international duty with Scotland.
Portugal international Diogo Jota has been out with a hamstring injury since the club’s 1-1 draw with Manchester City, however, the 27-year-old is back doing ball work and could therefore make a return to action soon.
Spanish midfielder Thiago Alcantara hasn’t played for the club since their victory over West Ham in April and is not expected to be available until the beginning of the new year.
