HBO's The Last Of Us Almost Altered The Original Game's Ending

There are plenty of incredible moments in The Last of Us, but none are more impactful than the Game 's ending. Having just slaughtered the Fireflies and doomed the planet to a reality without a vaccine, Ellie questions whether Joel's comments about there being no hope for a cure are actually true. Joel swears he's telling the truth, before Ellie says "okay" and the screen cuts to black. It's a very simple ending, but it's abrupt nature leaves us with the same sense of doubt and lack of closure that Ellie is feeling at the time. The show ends in pretty much the same way, though that wasn't always going to be the case, as showrunners Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann have revealed that they almost went with a slightly altered ending that would have been much less abrupt. Rhode Island AG Peter Neronha, public health advocate – part two – Richard Asinof

Image
PART Two R.I. Attorney General Peter Neronha shared in great detail the worries that keep him up late at night, captured in a recent interview with ConvergenceRI. Those worries include: the lack of primary care physicians, the financial frailty of many of the state’s hospitals, and the apparent failure by the state to engage in strategic planning around looming crises in health care. [See link below to ConvergenceRI story, “AG Neronha sounds the alarm,” PART One.] “I love being Attorney General,” Neronha said, in response to a question about whether he was considering running for higher office, apparently ruling out a run for Congress or for Governor. “I think that perhaps what I do as Attorney General, differently from what Attorneys General have done in the past, [is to recognize] this office has a lot of latent ability and authority that we are now using. It’s not like it’s never been there; it’s just that we’re now using it.” In PART Two , Attorney General Ne...
